The New Features in Adobe Creative Suite CS5

The Adobe Creative Suite CS5 is a complete package of Adobe’s top products from Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Flash Catalyst, Dreamweaver, and more. The programs you get depend on whether you get the standard, premium, production, or master collection. So with the CS5 line being released, what are some of the new features that stand out? Let’s take a look.

The most exciting new feature is the content-aware technology in Photoshop CS5. One of the biggest issues for users is the task of replacing a background image after editing or moving one part of an image to another. This is very time consuming and can take a lot of work to touch up. Fortunately, the new content-aware predicts the colors that would normally be in the background and fills it in. The technology is surprisingly very accurate and only minor touch ups may be needed.

Another feature is the perspective drawing technology. You start by mapping out a grid and configuring the specifications of it. Then when you get to placing images on the grid, the perspective drawing technology will adjust the image based on the perspective of the plane. To clarify, a poster on a wall will look different if it is closer to you compared to if it is further. Perspective drawing instantly modifies this and adjusts it so that you don’t have to redesign an image.

Dreamweaver’s biggest modification is on how the program actually works. It is now streamlined so that it’s easy for anybody starting out to create a site very quickly. Everything is more intuitive while also having more visual features to help web designers. You can compare the code and the actual page in real time. By changing the code, the web page will instantly change and you can test everything very quickly.

In the InDesign CS5, you can now use the new page tool to create multiple page sizes. This is very important for designers as it allows them to work with different formats and try interesting designs where one page will overlap on to the new one. When you add a new page you can adjust it the way you want without any restrictions.

Flash Catalyst now allows you to create content without starting out from code. You can import a Photoshop or Illustrator file and start working from there. This is a great way to get started and quickly start your Flash project. It’s also very intuitive as you can use existing projects to bounce around with ideas and get the inspiration you need for your new Flash project.

Those are just some of the many new features in Adobe Creative Suite CS5. There are many other features that have been added to Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash Catalyst, InDesign, as well as the other programs that are included in the software suite. Designers will appreciate the efforts Adobe has made to help them cut down the time for editing and creating new projects.
